What is DaySignal?

A private wellness app that turns your check-ins, reflections, and optional Health data into a daily signal, patterns over time, and weekly or monthly recaps. It is not a medical device.

How is Today’s signal generated?

The app computes structured metrics from your recent logs and Health aggregates, then may rewrite them with on-device Apple Intelligence when available. Headline and bullets should match the facts shown in confidence and refresh hints.

Why do Patterns say Gathering or Scanning?

Each family, like sleep, movement, or evening habits, needs its own data. Gathering means you started linking data; Scanning means you have enough data to analyze it. A card appears only when the pattern repeats clearly enough. Routine often appears first because check-ins alone can support it.

How do I use Pattern History?

Premium History at the bottom of the Patterns tab shows a stacked bar chart and a per-pattern matrix. Tap a bar for that week’s pattern counts by lifecycle state: Emerging, Strengthening, Stable, Weakening, or Retired. Tap a pattern name in the matrix for a plain-English summary; tap the colored cells in that row for week-by-week timeline. Choose 3M to 2Y for the time range. Lifecycle colors on cards and charts are separate from Gathering and Scanning colors on empty family tiles.

What should I enable in Apple Health?

DaySignal asks to read activity summaries such as steps, walking distance, exercise time, and workouts to personalize Today and movement patterns. It does not write anything into Apple Health. Sleep is a separate optional read for bedtime and sleep-duration patterns in Profile → Data Sources. Motion & Fitness is on-device activity on this iPhone, not your Health history.

What are Night Signals?

Premium-only optional chips on evening check-in, such as hydration, wind-down, caffeine, and more, from about 5 p.m. through early morning. They link habits to next-morning energy and sleep patterns. Turn rows on or off under Profile → Data Sources when subscribed.

What is location journaling?

Premium can attach a human-readable place name when you save a check-in or reflection, manually or with a one-time coarse Core Location lookup at save. DaySignal does not background-track you. Enable under Profile → Location. All entries search and the Place filter are Premium too.

What does Premium include?

Premium includes Pattern season, Pattern History, full pattern detail with evidence and experiments, full recap narratives and archives, Night Signals, unlimited Insights questions, and optional private iCloud sync, plus other Premium-only features shown in-app.

How many Insights (Ask DaySignal) questions can I ask?

Free includes 2 questions per calendar day and 15 per month over your check-ins, journals when enabled in Profile → Data Sources, and your top three active pattern summaries. Premium unlocks unlimited questions, full pattern history in retrieval, and weekly recap plus saved Today signal exploration. Daily counts reset at midnight; monthly counts reset on the first of each month, local time.

What widgets does DaySignal offer?

DaySignal includes five widget layouts. They all read a snapshot saved when Today last updated, and the widget extension does not run the full signal engine on its own. Tap any widget to open the Today tab.

Free — Small Home Screen: One calm word from today’s signal strength, such as Soft, Quiet, Steady, Rising, or Bright by day; Bright becomes Clear after 5 p.m. and before 5 a.m. When Live Context is on, a motion tag such as Moving, Still, Reset, or Commute replaces the word while activity is known. After Today refreshes, a subtle Updated time appears underneath; otherwise you will see Tap when you want more. Tap for the full read.

Premium — Medium Home Screen: One line from today’s signal, or a movement-aware line when Live Context is on, plus the same tap hint.

Premium — Lock Screen inline: One compact line with the truncated headline and best-next move joined with a middle dot.

Premium — Lock Screen rectangular: DaySignal mark, headline on the first line, and best-next move on the second.

Premium — Lock Screen circular: A gauge tinted by movement context with signal strength in the center, showing the number only.

Add widgets from the iOS Home Screen or Lock Screen widget gallery by searching DaySignal. Profile → Widgets shows previews. Open the app once after install so the first snapshot can save.

What’s the difference between iCloud sync and backup?

Private iCloud sync, available in Premium, mirrors your Core Data database across your Apple devices in DaySignal’s CloudKit container. Encrypted .dsbackup export and import is a file you store yourself and is available on all plans under Profile → Data & backup.

How do I delete all my data?

Profile → Privacy → Delete all data removes check-ins, journals, signals, recaps, voice files on this device, and pattern pins. It does not remove data stored in Apple Health. Turn off Health access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health if you want to revoke reads.

Why am I not getting notifications?

Check Profile → Notifications and iOS Settings → DaySignal. Evening reminders, Night Signals, and smart midday nudges require Premium. Alerts only schedule when the channel is on and system permission is allowed.

How do I cancel Premium?

Open the App Store, then your account, then Subscriptions, and choose DaySignal. You can also go to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancellation stops renewal, and you keep access until the current period ends.

What does Recalculate Insights do?

Profile → Data Sources → Recalculate Insights pulls fresh Health aggregates, reruns pattern detection, refreshes Today’s signal, refreshes this week’s in-progress recap and finalizes any past-week draft, and updates last week’s recap and the current month when rows exist.
